Rebecca Johnson, PhD, MPH

Dr. Johnson is a senior epidemiologist at CIDRAP. She joined the center in September 2009 and works on projects for the BioWatch program and the Minnesota Center of Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance (MCEIRS). She is also the principal of Epi center, Inc., a company providing epidemiologic consulting services.

Dr. Johnson has more than 24 years of experience in epidemiologic research design, implementation, analysis, and interpretation. She has conducted numerous studies of chronic and infectious diseases and has directed statewide disease surveillance systems. Dr. Johnson has particular expertise and interest in applied research methodology, including the development of databases and other data applications. Prior to co-founding Epi center, Inc., she was a professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. She also has held various epidemiologist and research positions at the Minnesota Department of Health.

Dr. Johnson has a bachelor's degree in biostatistics and health informatics, and master's and doctoral degrees in epidemiology from the University of Minnesota.
